We are proud to welcome Dr. Jennine Cabanellas to Joshi Eye Institute as our newest Fellowship-trained, Board-Certified Comprehensive Ophthalmologist. With over 25 years of experience in ophthalmic care, Dr. Cabanellas brings a wealth of clinical expertise and a deeply compassionate approach to patient care.
Dr. Cabanellas specializes in the medical and laser management of a wide range of eye conditions. She is highly regarded by her patients for her thoroughness, clear communication, and genuine dedication to improving their vision and quality of life. Her approach emphasizes personalized care, with a focus on helping patients understand every step of their diagnosis and treatment journey.
An Ivy League–trained physician, Dr. Cabanellas completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan. After spending two years at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, she transitioned to medicine, earning her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She then completed her Ophthalmology Residency at the Columbia University Harkness Eye Institute, followed by a prestigious Fellowship in LASIK and Refractive Surgery at the Dello Russo Laser Vision Correction Centers.
Throughout her career, Dr. Cabanellas has been an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Palm Beach County Ophthalmological Society. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and continues to stay at the forefront of advances in eye care.
Her commitment to global health has taken her as far as the Philippines, where she participated in a life-changing medical mission to perform cataract surgeries in underserved rural communities.
Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Cabanellas has been part of the South Florida community since 2001. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys the peaceful rhythm of farm life in Wellington with her husband, two children, and their spirited Jack Russell Terrier, Pixel.
