Dr. Deval Joshi is a fellowship trained, board-certified ophthalmologist and the founder of Joshi Eye Institute. He discovered his passion for ophthalmology and is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care. Dr Joshi utilizes the latest knowledge, research, and equipment to treat, monitor, and prevent a variety of disorders.
After graduating with Honors from Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Joshi went on to medical school at St. George’s University where he graduated first in his class. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida after which he practiced comprehensive ophthalmology. He went on for sub-specialty training at the University of Florida to become a vitreoretinal surgeon.
After fellowship, he remained in Gainesville to stay on as faculty at the University of Florida. He dedicated his time to Veterans as the Chief of Vitreoretinal Surgery as well as the Ophthalmology Residency Site Director at the VA Hospital. He has extensively trained many residents as well as retina fellows and was considered to be among the best surgical educators at the University.
Dr. Joshi moved to Palm Beach County in 2015. He has created a surgical retina service for Veterans at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center where he continues to provide the highest level of care. In September of 2016, he proudly opened the Joshi Eye Institute in Boynton Beach, Florida.
Dr. Joshi’s background offers him a unique perspective on the total care of an eye patient. He routinely operates on “difficult” cases as well as cases referred by other retina specialists that are deemed “complex”.
Dr. Joshi is widely known for his exceptionally attentive and compassionate bedside manner and for spending quality time with his patients. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, and 3 Yorkshire Terriers.
He is an avid fine-art photographer and computer geek. He enjoys traveling, soccer, and scuba diving.
